In addition to designing, engineering, manufacturing and supplying many custom cargo nets for the automotive aftermarket, we also sell a myriad of cargo nets for many applications, some of which you may never think of, including fire truck hose bed cargo nets.
Some fire departments use large engines that carry nets in their ‘hose beds’. These truck beds are not like you’d think of typically, such as a pickup truck bed. The hose beds on fire trucks are up on top of the truck. The beds carry large water hoses which just sit on top of the truck and are typically not secured.
The problem that many fire departments are running into is that the roads they sometimes travel are not smooth and easy to drive. Sometimes these roads are bumpy, and road hazards will cause the hoses to pop out, whether they’re going around a corner after hitting a bump and the hose gets loose and flies out the side of the truck, or they hit a rut, the hose becomes elevated then flies out the back.
These fire truck hoses are extremely heavy and dangerous. If a flying hose comes in contact with anything including other vehicles, people or animals, it can cause serious damage or even death. Fire departments all over the country are coming to us to design and build nets that they need to secure these hoses, to their specific specifications and needs.
