Why you need a Gladiator Cargo Net for your Truck or SUV

The Gladiator Cargo Net or Gladiator Net was on my mind while leaving Los Angeles this morning driving North on the US 101. I saw a truck ahead of me without a cargo net at all, traveling in a slower lane, that seemed to have a problem with how he had secured his luggage to his rack on his truck/SUV and he could definitely have used a Gladiator Net to safely protect his cargo.

As I passed him I noticed that there was a yellow rope that was somewhat securely tied around the long perimeter of a large piece of luggage, but that this was, with the other cargo on his rack, totally hanging down over towards the right rear of the top of his truck, and that it was just about to fly out of there and cause a major accident. I thought to myself that someone will definitely wave him down and let him know he needs to get off the freeway ASAP, but they did not. I was about a half a mile ahead of him, when I decided to slow down. So, I got over in the slower lanes, and he caught up to me. This is what I captured.

I enunciated the fact on the video that this guy, regardless of vehicle, could use either one our custom cargo nets built to his specifications or he could buy a Gladiator Baja Cargo Net for SUV’s, which comes in many sizes even small enough to easily and securely fasten his gear down so that it would be virtually impossible to fly off the rack. As far as anchors or straps go, they could use the straps that each Gladiator net comes with, or, they could either mickey rig their own or purchase separate smaller bungees or ratcheting straps that would work in conjunction with the many grommet attachment points that you have on the Gladiator Cargo Net.

After I shut off the recording to stay safe, I let him catch up to me again, since he wasn’t exiting the freeway as I originally thought when I passed him the 2nd time, and I was able to get right next to him. I honked my horn on my minivan which didn’t engage until I forcefully pushed it down in the middle of the horn, I looked over at him while honking and he looked over at me, I pointed to his cargo rack, he immediately looked back in front of him, then started making signals to get off the freeway.

He was able to pull over safely without harming anybody and he was able to probably salvage the rest of his gear that was still attached to the ropes. Disaster avoided, I moved on and exited L.A. safely, without a scratch.
